At 11:30 a.m. we started feeding hot dogs to the hungry masses.

 

These were the first people in line right as we started serving.

 

And the line got longer ...

 

... and longer ...

 

... and it stretched down the other side of the Capitol ...

 

... stopping near the building's Christmas tree. Over the day, we served thousands of people.

Gov. Brown quickly changed course from his anticipated path to the podium, and instead headed straight for a hot dog. This is a picture snapped during the ensuing media frenzy.

The Governor didn't speak, but Senator Lou Correa and OCEA General Manager Nick Berardino thanked the crowd for coming in support for him.
