Social Services Agency

The employees of the County of Orange’s Social Services Agency provide vital services and support to Orange County’s adults and children through SSA’s Adult Services and Assistance (ASAP), Children and Family Services (CFS), Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS), and Administrative Services Programs. It is estimated that SSA employees provide assistance to one out of every nine Orange County residents. This assistance positively impacts the health, safety, and well-being of children, disabled adults, seniors, and families.  With the mission of delivering "quality services that are accessible and responsive to the community, encourage personal responsibility, strengthen individuals, preserve families, and protect vulnerable adults and children," in 2008 SSA identified the following as priorities:

  • To lead and support a shared community responsibility for the safety and well-being of vulnerable children and adults through the provision of child and adult abuse prevention, intervention, and protective services.
  • To provide services for helping vulnerable adults and children receive needed health care, food, shelter, and clothing.
  • To contribute to the reduction of individuals living below the poverty level by providing assistance and supportive services that promote employment opportunities and family self-sufficiency.
  • To provide SSA staff and its partners with the resources, training, and administrative support needed for delivering professional, efficient, responsive, and mandated services to residents of Orange County.

Every day SSA employees continue to be a vital force in carrying out the agency’s goals, ultimately empowering their clientele toward self-sufficiency.

What is an MOU? It's a "memorandum of understanding"—another name for a collective bargaining agreement!
