The Orange County Sheriff's Department is the second-largest sheriff’s department in California and the fourth-largest in the nation. The department employs over 1900 sworn personnel and 1800 civilian personnel, many of them OCEA members who provide professional, responsive, and caring law enforcement services to the residents, visitors, and businesses of Orange County’s unincorporated areas and 12 contract cities. The Sheriff’s Department is also responsible for managing the County jail system, and for providing a variety of services to John Wayne Airport, the Orange County harbors, and the entire Orange County Transportation Authority. They provide bailiffs for the courtrooms and through the Coroner Division investigate more than half the deaths in Orange County. Our members believe a safe community can only exist through a partnership with our employees, residents, businesses, and other public entities. Through the Sheriff’s Department, OCEA members continue to provide services in an expeditious, effective, and courteous manner, while encouraging community participation in the development of the goals and objectives of the Department.
