Here are a few of the things OCEA has accomplished in recent years for most employees in our County bargaining units. These achievements have all contributed to a better life for OCEA’s members and their families. • “2.7% at 55” retirement benefit • Increase in County Health and Welfare contributions • Refined provisions for Performance Incentive Program • Safety membership for deputized Probation Department employees • Annual Leave—more flexibility than vacation and sick leave, and vastly improved payoff for unused leave at separation • Establishment of United Employee Organizations of Orange County (founding member organization) • Improvements in disability benefits • Improved mileage reimbursement plan Again, the above applies to most of the County employees we represent. We have made similar strides in our Superior Court bargaining units, and with many of our Cities and Districts groups.
Additionally, in recent years we: • Conducted several successful campaigns for members of the Orange County Board of Retirement • Played a significant role in the defeat of Proposition 75 (“Paycheck Deception”) • Advanced our role as the leading union representing public employees in Orange County
And that’s not all! We also: • Hold an annual OCEA Health Fair • Stay in touch with our members through dozens of OCEA Hot Dog Wagon visits each year • Conduct frequent OCEA site visits with OCEA Labor Relations Representatives and OCEA Benefits Administrators • Continue our "OCEA Presents" events, hosted by the OCEA Women’s Forum • Vastly increased member participation in our Special Events and Discounts programs
