By joining your fellow employees as members of OCEA, our union is made stronger. We develop goals and bargaining proposals, and our membership stays united behind these goals. The more members we have, the greater our strength is. This enables us to achieve more for our members, in terms of better wages and benefits.
Strength Through Unity
Through our unity, we have accomplished great things, including a “2.7% at 55” retirement benefit for many County and Court employees, an increase in County Health and Welfare contributions, safety membership for deputized Probation Department employees, Annual Leave (with more flexibility than vacation and sick leave, and vastly improved payoff for unused leave at separation), and improvements in disability benefits.  Brief History of OCEA1937: OCEA was founded! We were called the Orange County Employees Mutual Benefit Association. 1960: We hired our first general manager. Today: We have more than 13,000 members and a staff of about 30 dedicated employees advancing the welfare of public employes in Orange County.  
2.7% at 55!Our members achieved this enhanced retirement benefit for six of our County bargaining units in 2004. It was a landmark achievement. It all came about because of the dedication of our OCEA leaders and members!
