Career Development Workshops--August 16 & 23

Dear OCEA member,

Creating opportunities for professional growth and career advancement are challenges many workers face in the course of their jobs. To help you get to the next level, OCEA is offering a seminar made up of two-part classes that can give you the tools needed to make your application for a transfer or promotion more competitive. County HR is partnering with OCEA to bring this important training exclusively to OCEA members. Here are some of the topics:

  • What is the County looking for? You will get an answer to that question
  • Applying for an open County position (new jobs and transfers )
  • Tips on how to promote
  • Resume and interview best practices
  • Avoiding pitfalls and “red flags”

The seminar will be presented by representatives from County HRS in two sessions from Noon to 1 p.m. on August 16th and 23rd. Lunch will provided so RSVP soon at DO NOT RSVP IF YOU HAVE DONE SO ALREADY.

Career Development Seminar
The first class focuses on completing an application using and highlights the recruitment process with the goal of helping an applicant understand the desired qualifications needed for the next move. This class is geared toward current County workers.

The second class focuses on interviewing skills, the Qualifications Appraisal Panel (where two or more professionals rate and score you on your job knowledge and experience), and the Final Selection Interview.

Both classes will be held at OCEA headquarters, 830 N. Ross Street, Santa Ana, 92701. Don’t forget to RSVP so we know how much food to order. Should you have any questions or concerns, please contact Heather Sutherland at (714) 835-3355.
